Course DescripTion

Sales Skills for Athletes. (3-0). Credit 3. Exploration of concepts related to personal branding, self-awareness, social media, personal finance, contract negotiation and entrepreneurship; focus on connecting athletic skills to sales and sales leadership skills.

Assignments are a combination of Perusal readings, discussion preparation assignments prior to visits by former Aggie athletes, in-class assignments throughout the semester, and more intensive individual assignments that will be completed outside of class time. 

Objectives

Translate athletic competencies to business skills by creating a personal brand guide that highlights strengths and unique qualities. Practice effective communication and networking to build meaningful connections, while developing a comprehensive business toolkit to succeed in various professional settings. Identify business opportunities that align with personal goals, ensuring a strategic and fulfilling career path.

Former athletes will return to mentor the next generation of student-athletes, sharing their experiences and insights to help guide their transition from sports to business. Through one-on-one sessions and group discussions, they will offer valuable advice on personal branding, career development, and navigating life after athletics. This mentorship will provide students with a unique perspective, empowering them to leverage their athletic skills for success in the professional world.

Activities & Assignments

Weekly assignments and activities for this course will focus on developing key business skills by translating athletic competencies into practical tools for the professional world. Students will create personal brand guides, engage in networking exercises, practice effective communication, and work on building a comprehensive business toolkit.
